International District Choice Neighborhood Plan Team at CiQlovía (October)

On Sunday, October 20, ABQ CiQlovía took over Kathryn Avenue between San Pedro and Kentucky, uniting community organizations, bike advocates, public health professionals, city planners, and community members in a vibrant celebration. The International District Choice Neighborhood Plan Team hosted a booth showcasing the Choice Neighborhoods initiative, with interactive stations designed to engage the International District community.

These stations—featuring “Community Voices,” “Early Action Project Voting,” and “Youth Activities”—offered newcomers an opportunity to learn about the initiative while inviting all visitors to share their thoughts and hopes for the neighborhood. Participants also used an interactive map to highlight desired locations for future projects, resulting in a colorful display of ideas.

The event provided a unique opportunity to connect with residents from the International District and across the city as well as learning about nearby initiatives happening in surrounding neighborhoods. Conversations sparked around possibilities for transforming parks, alleys, and vacant lots in addition to tackling community challenges such as safety in certain areas.

In the end, the International District community came together with enthusiasm, sharing valuable perspectives on the unique challenges and rich potential of their neighborhood.
